This large 19th century Jambati Singing Bowl has an excellent and distinctive voice…a pulsating low second octave concert pitch Eb fundamental (78Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim. Its fine walls and sheered lip create sufficient vibrant energy to produce the OM sound, and also fountains if played with a little water inside. The Eb2 rim note progresses to a third octave Bb3 (238Hz) with a suede ringer, and changes to a middle A (448Hz) with a wooden one.
It is structurally sound, clean and stain-free with some copper patches showing through inside. Its decorative features have been worn away with the passage of time. It has an attractive bright golden bronze colour.
A padded striker and a suede ringer are included in the price.
