Large Glorious Golden Antique Lingam Singing Bowl – Perfect Pitch Eb3
SOLD
Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes Eb3 & Bb4 (Solar Plexus & Crown Chakras)
Weight: 1.61 kilos (3 lb 9 oz). Size: 24 x 10 cm (9 ½ x 4 inches)
This stunning large Lingam Singing Bowl is believed to date from the late 19th or early 20th century. It has a glorious deep golden colour and its beautifully crafted form has an attractive honest simplicity. It has a graciously curved wall with a triangulated lip, and a rounded bottom. The large lingam at its centre is surrounded by a pair of decorative circles. There is a matching deep navel or yoni underneath. A single decorative incised line encircles the outer rim.
The fundamental note is a fabulous perfect pitch third octave Eb3 (155Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. It has a long sustain. The rim note changes to a middle octave Bb4 (471Hz) when played with a wooden ringer. This bowl is very responsive and easy to play.
This bowl is structurally sound and clean but shows signs of long service with minor scuffs and blemishes here and there, including an unnoticeable pin-prick hole in the lingam. None of which detracts from its beauty or the excellent quality of sound. The walls have been worn deliciously smooth with the passage of time.
Make no mistake…this bowl is special with its perfect pitch voice, lovely shape, and glorious golden appearance!
A padded striker and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included free of charge.
