Extraordinary 18th Century Shaman Medicine & Singing Bowl – Perfect Pitch Low Bb2 – Super Rare!

This extraordinary shaman medicine and singing bowl is thought to date from the 18th century but could well be older. It is one of the rarest and oldest in my entire collection. Furthermore, it has an exceptional voice…a perfect pitch low second octave Bb2!
It has a very unusual shape with its super-fine high splayed wall, sheered lip and flat bottom, the centre of which features a raised mound surrounded by multiple circles with a unique circle of energetic radiating lines. Both the inner and outer walls feature multiple ritual or magical gashes which I believe to be associated with the bowl’s initiation and empowerment.
This bowl is of a type sometimes employed by shaman in the preparation of herbal remedies, and normally such bowls have limited vocal ability. However, this bowl is an exception.
The fundamental note is a beautiful and rather haunting low perfect pitch second octave Bb2 (116Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The struck note is often accompanied by subtle D4 (287Hz) and C#4 (284Hz) harmonics. The rim note changes to a fifth octave C5 (515Hz) with a wooden ringer.
This wonderful ancient bowl is in excellent condition for its age, clean, and free of blemishes. It has a beautiful aged surface and the look and feel of purpose and antiquity.
