Fabulous Huge 13 ½“ Antique Temple Jambati Singing Bowl – Spot-On Perfect Pitch D2 – Sheer Perfection!
£5,200.00
Huge Antique Jambati Singing Bowl. Notes D2 & Bb3 (Sacral & Crown Chakras)
2.84 kilos (6 lb 4 oz). 34 x 15.5 cm (13 ½ x 6 ¼ inches)
This fabulous huge bowl is as near to perfection as one could wish for in an antique Jambati. Bordering on the largest of its type at 13 ½ inches, and in an excellent blemish-free state of preservation, it has a spot-on low perfect pitch second octave D2 fundamental voice! Furthermore, its superior quality, finely hammered walls, and lovely golden bronze colour contribute to its considerable aesthetic appeal.
Weighing 2.84 kilos (6 lb 4 oz) it is a heavy bowl, but relatively light for its size. It has a gracefully curved wall, a plain sheered lip, and a rounded bottom. The incised bands encircling the outer rim form a decorative collar, and there are circles at its centre.
Its physical beauty is matched by a superb low pulsating spot-on perfect pitch second octave D2 fundamental (74Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. It has a very long sustain. The rim note changes to a third octave Bb3 (227Hz) when played with a wooden ringer. It has lost of vibrant energy and is capable of producing the sacred OM sound with a heavy suede ringer and a light touch.
This impressive Jambati Singing Bowl is quite likely to have served an important ceremonial purpose and may have been commissioned by or for a temple or monastery, but in later years it could have been used for the storage of grain; this accounting for its exceptional condition.
Antique Jambati Singing Bowls approaching anything like this size are extremely rare and sought after for their beautiful low resonant notes, loud voices and long sustains. This one is as good as they come!
Sheer perfection!
A large Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker and 2 ringers (one heavy) are all included in the price.
