This glorious golden Jambati Singing Bowl has an amazing vocal range spread across 3 octaves…two of which are perfect concert pitch, with the third fairly close.
The fundamental note is a beautiful perfect pitch middle octave F4 (349Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. This note is often accompanied by a low second octave Bb2 (116Hz) harmonic that is close to perfect pitch. The rim note changes to a perfect pitch fifth octave E5 (661Hz) with a wooden ringer. It is very responsive and easy to play, and all 3 notes have exceptionally long sustains.
This 20th century Jambati has a lovely simplicity of form with its gracefully curved wall, sheered lip, and rounded bottom. There are no decorative features. However, this bowl has considerable aesthetic appeal with its incredibly smooth walls and fabulous bright and shiny golden colour. It’s a real looker!
This superior quality bowl is quite substantial and unusually heavy. It is in excellent structural condition, clean, and blemish-free.
