Glorious Massive Antique Golden Temple Ultabati Singing Bowl – Incredible P. Pitch C#2 – OM

£6,000.00

Ultabati Singing Bowl. Notes: C#2 & G3 (Root & Throat Chakras)

Weight 2.33 kilos (5 lb 2 oz).  Size 32 x 15 cm (12 ¾  x 6 inches)

Antique Ultabati bowls are now extremely rare and difficult to source, even more so for large examples. This particular bowl is exceptional in every respect…age, size, shape, quality, condition and musicality…and ranks among the very best in my collection spanning 45 years.

This huge and stunningly beautiful Golden Ultabati Singing Bowl has an incredible voice…a low second octave perfect pitch C#2 (69Hz) when stuck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The C#2 struck note is accompanied by a subtle close to perfect pitch third octave G3 (194Hz).  If struck with a hard ringer it will produce a middle octave F#4 (377Hz) harmonic.  Striking first with a padded mallet followed by the hard ringer will enable both notes to sing together.  It has a pronounced pulse and a long sustain and is extremely responsive and easy to play.

This bowl has masses of vibrant energy and will readily make the sacred OM sound with a heavy suede ringer.

This Ultabati has a massive diameter of  12 ¾ inches, and weighs 2.33 kilos.  This is half the weight of some Ultabti with the same diameter and therefore easier to hold and play.

It has a gracefully curved wall with a scooped collar and shoulder, a typical downward-sloping lip, and a rounded bottom.  The scooped collar is smooth and shiny and contrasts with the subtle hammer marks below. The boundary between them is defined by a pair of parallel lines. There are two sets of circles at its centre.

This bowl is thought to date from the 19th century.  It is in exceptional condition, clean and stain-free.  It has a fabulous golden bronze colour and is extremely aesthetically and sonically beautiful.  It is likely that this glorious superior quality bowl served an important ceremonial purpose and was commissioned by or for a Temple or Monastery.

This stunning Ultabati bowl has been on display in my own sitting room and will be difficult to part with.  Simply among the best of the best!

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a padded striker, and 2 ringers are all included in the price.
