Jambati Singing Bowl. Notes G#2 & Eb4 (Throat & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight 1.91 kilos (4 lb 3 ¼ oz). Size 27 x 12 cm (10 ½ x 4 ¾ inches)
This large 19th Century Jambati Singing Bowl has a good low second octave G#2 fundamental (106Hz) with a nice pulse when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with suede ringer. The rim note changes to a middle Eb4 (318Hz) with a wooden ringer.
It has a graceful form with a relatively fine wall and a plain sheered lip. This is an old bowl and the decorative circles at its centre and lines around the rim have long since been worn away with the passage of time.
It is structurally sound, with a golden interior that is clean and virtually stain-free, but the outer surface has some large patches of copper oxidization. The price has been reduced to reflect this.
This is a very substantial and attractive old bowl despite the surface oxidization, which in some respects adds colour and interest.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, padded striker, and teak and suede ringer are all included in the price.
