This charming small Antique Singing Bowl has exceptionally fine walls and weights very little. It has a relatively low profile and walls that gently turn in towards the rim. Unusually, its centre is slightly raised, with a matching depression underneath. This is a very old bowl and any decorative features it might have possessed have long been worn away through use over time, leaving its surfaces attractively silky smooth.
The fundamental note is a third octave B3 (245Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave F5 (711Hz) with a wooden ringer. It is very responsive and easy to play.
It is in good structural condition, virtually free of stains and blemishes, and has a nice golden colour.
Very small antique bowls like this are uncommon and have become very collectable!
