Antique Thadobati Singing and Talking Bowl – Bb3 (238Hz)

This antique Thadobati Singing and Talking Bowl dates from the early 19th century.  The fundamental note is an excellent third octave Bb (239Hz) when struck or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a powerful fifth octave F (682Hz) if a wooden ringer is used.  And this bowl has good talking abilities if played with a little water in side.

This high-sided Thadobati bowl has a flat bottom and attractive gently rounded walls that are less common in this bowl type.  It has a grooved lip, a decorative dot pattern below the outer rim, and some small concentric circles at its centre.

The structural condition of this bowl is good and it is clean inside and out, with some patches of copper oxidization in the basin.

A silk brocade Tibetan bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
