Archetypal 19th Century Thadobati Singing Bowl – Perfect Pitch Bb3
£580.00
Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl. Notes: Bb3 & E5 (Crown & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight: 945 grams (2 lb 1 oz). Size: 18 x 9 cm ( 7 x 3 ½ inches)
This is the archetypal 19th century Thadabati Singing Bowl with its fairly straight high-sided wall, sheered lip and flat bottom. Its proportions, wall thickness, size and weight are all typical of this popular bowl type. There are circles at its centre, and a decorative band of suns (punched dots within circles) around the outer rim. This feature is commonly found on older Thadobati Singing Bowls.
The fundamental note is a perfect pitch third octave Bb3 (234Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave E5 (675Hz) with a wooden ringer.
It is in good structural condition, basically clean, but with some light staining here and there as one might expect from a bowl this age.
A classical and characterful antique Thadobati bowl with an attractive golden bronze colour!
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a ringer are included in the price.
