Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl. Notes: A3 & E5 (Third Eye & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight: 1.09 kilos (2 lb 6 oz). Size: 18.5 x 10 cm (7 ¼ x 4 inches)
This is an archetypal Antique Thadobati Singing Bowl with its high-side almost straight walls, flat bottom, and sheered lip with a simple band of decorative dots encircling its outer rim. Only the circles that once decorated the inside floor are missing; having been worn away with use and ritual cleaning for a hundred years and more.
Its faintly uneven walls, although smooth to the touch, are indicative of some difficulty in the manufacturing process, as is often the case with older Thadobati singing bowls.
The fundamental note is a nice third octave A3 (222-224Hz) when struck with a padded mallet, and 225-226Hz when played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave E5 (642Hz) with a wooden ringer.
This characterful 19th century bowl is in excellent structural condition, clean and stain-free.
A ringer is included in the price.
