Exquisite and Rare 19th Century 7” Antique Lingam Singing Bowl – G#3 & D5

This rare antique Lingam Singing Bowl has a graceful and relatively low profile, a plain sheered lip and a gently rounded bottom.  The lingam at its centre is surrounded and defined by two sets of circles, and there is a deep matching navel or yoni underneath.  

This is quite a beautiful bowl, but external decorative features it may once have possessed have long since been worn away with handling and use over time, and its walls are now sensually smooth.  

The fundamental note is a nice third octave G#3 (203Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a a good fifth octave D5 (740Hz) with a wooden ringer, often accompanied by the G#3 fundamental.    It is very responsive and easy to play.

This Lingam bowl is in excellent structural condition, clean and free of stains.  The aged green-gold patina is a particularly lovely feature.
