Antique Singing Bowl. Notes: G#3 & D6 (Throat & Sacral Chakras)
Weight: 900 grams (1 lb 0 oz). Size: 19.5 x 9 cm (7 ¾ x 3 ½ inches)
This is a lovely example of a superior quality 18th Century Lingam Singing Bowl. It has a lower than normal gracefully rounded wall with decorative lines encircling the outer rim. At its centre there is a lingam surrounded and defined by two sets of circles, and a neat matching navel or yoni underneath.
The fundamental note is a third octave G#3 (212Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a high sixth octave D6 (1197Hz) with a wooden ringer. It is very responsive and easy to play.
It is in excellent structural condition, clean, and has a wonderful aged patina with the look and feel of antiquity.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
