Fabulous Large Superior Quality 19th Century Remuna Singing Bowl – Perfect A3

This is a rare large 19th Century Remuna Singing Bowl with two beautiful voices…a Perfect Pitch third octave A3 (219.5Hz) fundamental when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The struck and played A3 is sometimes beautifully accompanied by a Eb5 harmonic when played with a suede ringer, but the rim note changes to a fifth octave Eb5 (640Hz) or sixth octave Eb6 (1222Hz) with a wooden one.  Remuna bowls are renowned for their beautiful voices and ease of play, and this bowl is no exception.  It has a pronounced pulse and a long sustain.

This superior quality antique bowl has the particularly lovely Remuna shape with its gently curved wall, grooved lip, and flat bottom.  There is a single line around the inner rim, while the outer rim features a decorative collar of dots and lines.  There are also decorative bands encircling the bowl’s belly, and a small circle at its centre.  This bowl has considerable aesthetic appeal!

It is very old and has been handled and washed countless times, to the point where its exterior wall has been worn smooth and some of its decorative features worn down.

It is structurally sound, clean and virtually stain-free.
