Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: G#3 & D5 (Throat & Sacral Chakras)
Weight: 730 grams (1 lb 10 oz). Size: 17 x 8 cm ( 6 ¾ x 3 inches)
This rare antique Lingam Singing Bowl is undoubtedly one of the finest and oldest in my entire collection. It is believed to date from the 18th century but could be older.
It has a relatively low profile, a sheered rim, and incredibly finely beaten walls that have been worn smooth with use over the passage of time. Any decorative features it might once have had, such as circles surrounding the lingam, have long since vanished. It has a neat lingam at its centre and a matching navel or yoni underneath.
The fundamental note is a near perfect pitch third octave G#3 (209Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave D5 (598Hz) with a wooden ringer.
This fabulous ancient Lingam singing bowl has the most wonderful aged patina, almost black outside, with a beautiful bronze and emerald green interior. It is in excellent structural condition.
It has the look and feel of antiquity and purpose…very special indeed!
A double-ended teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
