Majestic Rare Antique Lingam Singing Bowl – Perfect Pitch G3
£750.00
Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: G3 & C#5 (Throat & Heart Chakras)
Weight: 1.13 kilos (2 lb 8 oz). Size: 19 x 9 cm (7 ½ x 3 ½ inches)
This majestic old lingam bowl is thought to date from around 1800. It shows clear signs of wear and tear sustained during its long years of service, none of which impacts on its wonderful voice…a perfect pitch third octave G3 (197Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer, and an excellent fifth octave C#5 (560Hz) when played with a wooden ringer.
It has lots of vibrant energy and is capable of producing fountains when played with a little water inside.
This is a superior quality bowl, heavier than usual, with a thicker bottom and a fine, smooth, gracefully curved wall. Its sheered lip is decorated around the outer rim with a band of tiny vertical cuts. There is an excellent large lingam surrounded and defined by multiple circles at its centre, with a deep navel or yoni underneath.
Its walls are crazed with surface cracks in places but its structural integrity remains intact despite the wear and tear. It is clean and stain-free, with an attractive aged bronze colour.
A wonderful really old lingam bowl with bags of character and a great voice!
A double-ended teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
