Rare 18th Century Lingam Singing Bowl – Supplied ‘As Found’ – Inscribed

Most old singing have been cleaned to some extent by the dealers who acquire them at source in the Himalayas. This rare 18th century Lingam Singing Bowl is supplied as found; uncleaned and with all its life-story intact…and that’s what makes it special!
It has the most glorious multi-colored surface and a patina that has been gradually built up through use during its lifetime, and it really looks its age. It also benefits from a small inscription on its outer wall.
The fundamental note is a very nice third octave B3 (253Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave F#5 (726Hz) when played with a wooden ringer. It is very responsive and easy to play.
This bowl is structurally sound with some minor blemishes here and there as one might expect for its age.
