Rare 18th Century Thadobati Singing & Talking Bowl – A3 & E5 – Suns

This ancient Thadobati Singing Bowl with its gracefully curved wall, sheered lip and flat bottom is believed to date from the 18th Century.

It is distinguished by the decorative collar of sun motifs (punched dot inside a circle) and downward facing sun triangles found on older bowls, and its rare and excellent ‘talking ability’ when played and rocked back and forth with a little water inside.

It has a beautiful near perfect pitch third octave A3 (222Hz) fundamental when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a fifth octave E5 (650Hz) with a wooden ringer.

This bowl is in excellent structural condition, clean and stain-free, with a bright golden bronze colour.
