Rare 9-inch 18th Century Lingam Singing Bowl
£2,000.00
Rare Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: A3 & G#3 (Third Eye & Throat Chakras)
Weight: 1.40 grams (3 lb 1 oz). Size: 23 x 10 cm (9 x 4 inches)
This is rare and particularly nice example of an 18th Century Lingam Singing Bowl. With a diameter of 9 inches it is unusually large for a lingam. It has a relatively low curved wall with decorative bands around the outer rim, a triangulated grooved inward-facing lip, and a rounded bottom.
It features a very attractive large lingam at its centre surrounded and defined by two sets of circles, and a deep naval or yoni underneath. Its hammered walls have been worn silky smooth from use over the passage of time.
It has a rather lovely third octave A3 fundamental (215Hz) when struck with a padded mallet and played around the rim with a suede ringer when, if desired, the note gradually builds to a third octave G#3 (210Hz).
This rare antique Lingam singing bowl is structurally sound, clean and free of stains and blemishes. It has a fabulous aged patina and the look and feel of great antiquity.
A very beautiful and collectable antique lingam singing bowl with a lovely voice!
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a ringer are included in the price.
