Rare Antique Lingam Singing & Talking Bowl – Close Perfect Pitch A3

£710.00

Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: A3 & Eb5 (Third Eye & Solar Plexus Chakras)

Weight: 943 grams (2 lb 1 oz).  Size: 19 x 9.5 cm ( 7 ½ x 3 ¾ inches)

This is a nice example of an 18th or early 19th century Lingam Singing Bowl with a great voice…an almost perfect pitch 3rd octave A3 (217/8Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The note changes to a fifth octave Eb5 (627Hz) harmonic when played with a wooden ringer.

This bowl also has an excellent ‘talking voice’ when struck or played and rocked back and forth with a little water inside.  Talking bowls are extremely rare, and are highly prized by shamans for their ability to connect and communicate with the spirit world.

It is in excellent structural condition, clean and stain-free, and with an attractive golden bronze colour with a smattering of copper oxidization inside.

It has a relatively high wall, a sheered lip, and flat bottom.  The lingam at its centre is surrounded and defined by 2 sets of circles, and there is a matching navel or yoni underneath.  A decorative band of tiny dots, now faint, encircle the outer rim, with a  series of ritual or magical gashes below.  These small cuts or gashes, rarely found on Lingam bowls, are thought to relate in some way to the bowl’s sacred initiation.

A double-ended teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
