Rare Antique Lingam Singing Bowl – G#3 & D5

This rare nice quality bowl has the classical proportions of an antique Lingam.  It has a gracefully curved wall, a sheered lip, and a gently rounded bottom.  The lingam at its centre is surrounded and defined by two sets of circles, and there is a deep matching navel or yoni underneath.

This is a very old bowl.  Its hammered walls have been worn smooth from years of handling, and the two bands of decorative dots encircling the outer rim are now faint, but it remains structurally perfect, clean, and free of stains, but with a beautiful aged patina.  

The fundamental note is a third octave G#3 (203Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a nice fifth octave D5 (597Hz) with a wooden ringer. It is very responsive and easy to play.
