Rare Antique Lingam Singing Bowl – Perfect Pitch B3

This is a nice quality antique thadobati-style Lingam Singing Bowl with a high-sided wall, sheered lip, and flat bottom.  There is an excellent large lingam surrounded by circles at its centre, with a deep navel or yoni underneath.  Two decorative bands of tiny dots encircle the outer rim.

There also remains some evidence of the magical ritual gashes or cuts that encircle the outer rim.  They are only found on older bowls, and are thought to relate to the bowl’s initiation in some way. 

This bowl has a really lovely perfect pitch fundamental third octave B3 (248Hz) when struck with a padded mallet and 250Hz when played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a fifth octave F5 (703Hz) harmonic when played with a wooden ringer.

A well proportioned 19th century singing bowl in excellent structural condition, clean and stain-free, and with an attractive bright golden bronze colour.
