Antique Remuna-Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes G#3 & C#6 (Throat & Root Chakras)
Weight 853 grams (1 lb 14 oz). Size 17.5 x 9 (7 x 3 ½ inches)
This is a rare 19th Century Remuna-Lingam Singing Bowl with two great voices…a third octave G#3 (206Hz) fundamental that is virtually perfect pitch when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a high sixth octave C#6 (1127Hz) with a wooden ringer.
Lingam bowls have a very distinctive sound, and Remuna bowls are renowned for their beautiful voices and ease of play. This lovely bowl is very responsive and combines the best of both worlds. It is believed to date from the 19th Century but could be older.
This unusual Lingam Singing Bowl has the body and sonic characteristics of a Remuna bowl with its fine slightly globular wall, grooved lip, and decorative dotted bands around the rim and bands around the belly…but with the rare addition of a lingam surrounded by circles at its centre, and a matching navel or yoni underneath. A particularly attractive feature is the contrasting exterior surface…smooth in the upper part and textured hammer markings below.
This attractive superior quality bowl is structurally sound, clean and stain-free, with some aged patches of copper oxidization inside.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a ringer are included in the price.
