Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: A3 & E5 (Third Eye & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight 681 grams (1 lb 8 oz). Size 18 x 10 cm (7 x 3 ½ inches)
This unusual antique Lingam Singing Bowl combines the rare lingam form with that of the uncommon Remuna shape to produce an interesting bowl with a uniquely beautiful sound. Both bowls types are renowned for their distinctive and exquisite voices, and this bowl is no exception.
The fundamental note is a really lovely pulsating third octave A3 (225Hz) with a long sustain when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave E5 (644Hz) with a wooden ringer.
This is a very attractive and well-crafted bowl with a gently curved wall and a sheered level lip. There is an excellent lingam at its centre surrounded by boldly incised circles, and a matching navel or yoni underneath. There are also faint parallel lines forming a decorative collar around the rim.
This well-worn older bowl shows signs of wear and tear but is in good structural condition, clean and stain-free, with an attractive golden bronze colour.
A small ringer is included in the price.
