Rare Inscribed 19th Century Lingam Singing Bowl – Perfect Pitch A3
£650.00
Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes A3 & Eb5 (Third Eye & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight: 803 grams (1 lb 12 oz). Size: 17.5 x 9 cm (7 x 3 ½ inches)
This 19th century Lingam Singing Bowl has a perfect pitch A3 (221Hz) fundamental note when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a nice fifth octave Eb5 (632Hz) when played with a wooden ringer. It is very responsive and easy to play.
It also benefits from a nice but slightly faded dot-punched inscription on the outer wall; a sure sign of the high esteem in which this bowl was held by a former keeper.
It is well proportioned with a gently curved wall, a sheered lip and flat bottom. The lingam at its centre is surrounded and defined by 2 sets of circles, matched by a navel or yoni underneath. Two bands of tiny dots decorate the outer rim.
This bowl is structurally sound, clean, and free of stains and blemishes, with an aged patina.
A fabulous example of this bowl type!
A teak and suede ringer is included free of charge.
