Antique Lingam Singing & Fountain Bowl. D3 & G#4 (Sacral & Throat Chakras)

Weight 1.32 kilos (2 lb 15 oz).  Size 21.5 x 10.5 cm (8 ½ x 4 ¼ inches)

This magnificent rare large antique Lingam Singing and Fountain Bowl is thought to date from the late 1700s or early 1800s.   It has a finely forged high-sided wall with a plain sheered lip, and features a fabulous large pointed lingam at its centre surrounded and defined by circles.  There is a matching navel or yoni underneath, and a decorative band of tiny dots around the outer rim, below which is an irregular band of ritual cuts of a type occasionally found on older Thadobati and Manipuri bowls, but rarely on a Lingam.

This antique bowl also benefits from an inscription on the outer wall; a fair indication of the high esteem in which a bowl was held by a former keeper.

The fundamental note is a powerful and very loud third octave D3 (148Hz) with a long sustain when struck with a padded mallet, and a near perfect pitch 145/6Hz when played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a middle G#4 (420Hz) with a pronounced beat when played with a wooden ringer.

This ancient bowl has bags of vibrant energy and will readily make fountains if stuck or played with a little water inside.  The ability to make fountains is very rare indeed and is virtually unheard of in a Lingam!

It is structurally sound, free of stains and blemishes, and has a fabulous aged patina and colour, and the look and feel of great antiquity.

A very remarkable and special bowl indeed!

A Tibetan silk brocaded bowl cushion, a padded striker, and a double ended teak and suede ringer are all included in the price.
