Rare Superior Quality 19th Century Lingam Singing Bowl – G#3
£780.00
Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes G#3 & D5 (Throat & Sacral Chakras)
Weight: 1.04 kilos (2 lb 5 oz). Size: 18.5 x 10 cm (7 ¼ x 4 inches)
This superior quality antique Lingam Singing Bowl is beautifully proportioned and has great aesthetic appeal. It has a high-sided wall, sheered lip and rounded bottom. The superb lingam at its centre is surrounded and defined by 2 sets of circles, matched by a perfect navel or yoni underneath. The decorative chain of tiny dots encircling the outer rim were originally suns (dots within circles) but the circles have been worn away with the passage of time, leaving just the deeper dots.
The fundamental note is a very nice third octave G#3 (205/5Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a perfect pitch fifth octave D5 (586Hz) when played with a wooden ringer. It is very responsive and easy to play.
This rare and handsome lingam bowl is structurally sound, clean, and free of stains and blemishes.
A fabulous example of this bowl type!
A teak and suede ringer is included free of charge.
