Rare Superior Quality 19th Century Lingam Singing Bowl G3 & C6

£850.00

Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: G3 & C6 (Throat & Root Chakras)

Weight 1.03 kilos (2 lb 4 oz). Size 19.5 x 9.5 cm (7 ¾ x 3 ¾ inches)

This rare superior quality Lingam Singing Bowl dates from the 19th century.  The  fundamental note is an excellent third octave G3 (192Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a high sixth octave C6 (1070Hz) harmonic with a wooden ringer.  This bowl is very responsive and easy to play.  It also has some fountain and talking ability when played or struck with some water inside.

This lingam bowl has been beautifully crafted.  It has curved even walls, a plain sheered lip, and rounded bottom.   The large lingam at its centre is surrounded by circles, and there is a matching navel or yoni underneath.  The walls are smooth from long use, and all other decorative features have been worn away with the passage of time.

It is quite large for a lingam bowl, heavy for its size, and beautifully proportioned.  It is in excellent structural condition, clean and free of stains and blemishes, and with an attractive aged patina.

A superb example of this rare bowl type, with the look and feel of antiquity.

A double-ended teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
