Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes F#3 & C5 (Heart & Root Chakras)
Weight: 836 grams (1 lb 14 oz). Size: 18.5 x 9 cm ( 7 ¼ x 3 ½ inches)
This handsome superior quality medium-size antique Lingam Singing Bowl has a gently curved wall, a grooved lip now worn smooth, and a rounded bottom. At its centre the lingam is surrounded by circles, with a matching navel or yoni underneath. A decorative band of dots encircles the outer rim. It has very attractive subtle hammer marks on the lower part of the exterior wall.
It has two fabulous voices…a third octave F#3 (179Hz-182Hz) fundamental when struck with a padded mallet and 182Hz when played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a perfect concert pitch fifth octave harmonic (524Hz) with a wooden one.
This bowl is believed to date from the 19th century but could be older. It is structurally sound, clean and stain-free, with a subtle patina acquired from long use.
A fabulous example of this rare bowl form!
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and ringer are included in the price.
