Rare Superior Quality Antique Remuna-Lingam Singing Bowl – Perfect Pitch A3

This is a rare 19th Century Remuna-Lingam Singing Bowl with a fabulous perfect pitch A3 fundamental (220Hz) when played around the rim with a suede ringer.  When struck with a padded mallet the A3 fundamental is 217Hz.  The rim note changes to a fifth octave Eb5 (632Hz) harmonic with a wooden ringer.  This is a responsive bowl and easy to play.

Lingam bowls have a very distinctive sound, and Remuna bowls are renowned for their beautiful voices and ease of play.  This lovely bowl combines the best of both worlds.   It has the body and sonic characteristics of a Remuna bowl with its fine slightly globular wall, grooved lip, and decorative bands around the belly, now faint…but with the addition of a lingam surrounded by two sets of circles at its centre, and a matching navel or yoni underneath. 

This is a particularly attractive bowl, with great aesthetic appeal.  It’s proportionally al little taller than usual, and features two bands of tiny decorative dots around the rim, and some really lovely subtle hammer markings on the exterior wall.   it is structurally sound, clean and stain-free.
