Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes G3 & C#5 (Throat & Root Chakras)
Weight: 924 grams (2 lb 1 oz). Size: 19 x 10.5 cm ( 7 ½ x 4 ¼ inches)
This handsome superior quality Lingam Singing Bowl takes the Thadobati from with its high-sided almost straight wall, flat bottom and grooved folded lip. At its centre there is a large lingam surrounded and defined by two sets of circles, with a deep navel or yoni underneath.
It has two fabulous voices…a third octave G3 (192Hz-194Hz) fundamental when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer, and a fifth octave C#5 (558Hz) with a wooden one.
This is a very old bowl, circa 1800, that has been handled and washed countless times…to the point where its exterior wall is now silky smooth and its external decorations are barely in evidence, including two bands of dots around the rim. Magical or ritual gashes that once encircled the wall are now just smooth depressions in the surface. What remains is a handsome bowl with subtle hints of its past, and its considerable antiquity.
It is structurally sound, clean and stain-free, with a golden bronze colour and a subtle patina.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and ringer are included in the price.
