£1,250.00
Antique Manipuri-Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: G3 & C#5 (Throat & Root Chakras)
Weight 910 grams (2lb 0 oz). Size 20.5 x 7 cm (8 x 2 ¾ inches)
This is a fabulous example of a very rare and superior quality antique Manipuri-Lingam Singing Bowl.
It has all the physical characteristics of a normal Manipuri bowl but is considerably heavier and thicker than most, and with a diameter of 8 inches it is also wider and larger. It is further distinguished by the extremely rare addition of a fabulous lingam at its centre and a matching navel or yoni underneath. The lingam is surrounded and defined by two sets of circles. The bowl has a grooved lip and multiple decorative lines encircling the outer rim. It’s a very pretty bowl.
The fundamental note is a lovely third octave G3 (193Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave C#5 (565Hz) with a wooden ringer.
This antique Manipuri is in excellent structural condition, clean and stain-free, with a bright golden bronze colour.
Rare, beautiful, and collectable!
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a ringer are included in the price.
