Superb Rare 19th Century Lingam Singing Bowl – G#3

£1,100.00

In stock

Rare Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: G#3 & D5 (Throat & Sacral Chakras)

Weight: 1 .12 Kilos (2 lb 8 oz).   Size: 19.5 x 9.5 cm (7 ½ x 3 ¾ inches)

This is a superb example of superior quality 19th Century Lingam Singing Bowl with a near perfect pitch third octave G#3 (206Hz) fundamental when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a fifth octave D5 (604Hz) harmonic with a wooden ringer.

This bowl has been exquisitely and expertly forged, and to my mind is perfectly proportioned and comfortable for everyday hand-held playing.   It’s a little heavier for its size than average, and has a plain sheered lip and a rounded bottom.

The perfect Lingam at its centre is surrounded and defined by two sets of circles, and there is a deep matching naval or yoni underneath.  The outer rim is encircled with a band of tiny decorative cuts, and a series of magical or ritual gashes that I believe relate to the bowl’s initiation rite.

This is a very attractive bowl with particularly nice hammer marks to its outer surface. and an aged patina.  It is structurally sound, clean, and free of stains and blemishes.

This 19th Century Lingam Singing Bowl looks its age and feels special in the hand.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a ringer are included in the price.
