Superb Rare 19th Century Lingam Singing Bowl – Perfect Pitch E3
£750.00
Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: E3 & Bb4 (Solar Plexus & Crown Chakras)
Weight: 812 grams (1 lb 13 oz). Size: 19.5 x 8.5 cm (7 ½ x 3 ¼ inches)
This is a nice example of a rare 19th century low-wall Lingam Singing Bowl in its ‘as found’ uncleaned condition with a lovely aged surface patina that would readily wash off to reveal a very rich antique golden bronze colour if required.
It has a sheered lip and a rounded bottom. There is a superb well-defined lingam at its centre, surrounded by 2 sets of circles, with a matching navel or yoni underneath. Any other decorative features it might originally have possessed have since vanished with the passage of time.
The fundamental note is a perfect pitch E3 (164/5Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a middle octave Bb4 (473Hz) with a wooden ringer. It is a responsive bowl and is easy to play.
This ancient singing bowl, although well used, is in excellent structural condition.
A rare and lovely old Lingam Singing Bowl!
A teak and suede ringer is included free of charge.
