Superb Rare Antique Lingam Singing Bowl – Perfect Pitch B3 (247Hz)
£700.00
Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: B3 & F6 (Crown & Heart Chakras)
Weight: 781 grams (1 lb 12 oz). Size: 18 x 8 cm ( 7 x 3 inches)
This is a fabulous example of a superior quality antique Lingam Singing Bowl. It is in excellent structural condition, virtually stain-free, and supplied exactly as found with its surface tarnish and patina of long use intact. It could easily be cleaned but it takes many decades of handling to acquire the patina and I personally prefer it as it is. Its walls have been worn satin smooth over the years and it’s hard to believe that they were originally hammered into shape.
The fundamental note is a perfect third octave B3 (247Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The note changes to a sixth octave F6 (1360Hz) harmonic when played with a wooden ringer.
This bowl is very nicely proportion with its gently curved walls a little lower than usual. It has a sheered lip with 2 bands of decorative dots, now faint, around the outer rim, and a pair of equally faint lines encircling the outer wall at the midpoint. The lingam at its centre is surrounded by two sets of circles, and there is a matching navel or yoni underneath.
A double-ended teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
