Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: B3 & F5 (Crown & Heart Chakras)
Weight: 1.10 kilos (2 lb 7 oz). Size: 19.5 x 10 (7 ¾ x 4 inches)
This is a rare and superior quality antique Lingam Singing Bowl. It is beautifully proportioned with gently curved walls and a grooved lip. There is a neat Lingam at its centre surrounded by faint circles, with a matching yoni or navel underneath. Two bands of decorative dots form a subtle decorative collar around the outer rim, below which there is an incised inscription. Inscriptions are a fair indication of the high esteem in which a bowl was held be a former keeper.
This antique singing bowl has a lovely third octave B3 fundamental (243Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave F5 (710Hz) harmonic when played with a wooden ringer. It’s a responsive bowl and easy to play.
This 19th Century bowl is structurally sound, clean and stain-free, with some copper oxidization inside, and an aged patina.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, a striker, and a ringer are all included in the price.
