Superior Quality Antique Manipuri Singing Bowl

This is a nice example of a 19th century Manipuri Singing Bowl.  It is beautifully proportioned and a little thicker and heavier than others with this diameter.  It has a wide grooved lip, circles at its centre, and multiple decorative lines encircling the outer rim.  In short, it’s a classic antique Manipuri Singing Bowl.

The fundamental note is good third octave Bb3 (228Hz) when struck with a padded mallet, and a fifth octave E5 (667Hz) when struck or played around the rim with a wooden ringer.  It is a responsive bowl and easy to play.

This superior quality Manipuri bowl is in excellent structural condition, clean, with a few minor stains, and an antique golden bronze colour.

A  complementary Tibetan silk brocade cushion and ringer are included.
