Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: Bb3 & E5 (Crown & Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight: 752 grams (1 lb 11 oz). Size: 17 x 8.5 cm ( 6 ¾ x 3 ¼ inches)
This is a superb example of a medium-size 19th century Lingam Singing Bowl. It has a gently curved wall of even thickness and a sheered lip. There is a decorative dot-filled band encircling the outer rim and another pair of bands about a third of the way down the wall, below which are a series of ritual gashes rarely seen on Lingam bowls.
There is a nice Lingam surrounded by two sets of circles at its centre, and a matching navel or yoni underneath.
The fundamental note is a third octave Bb3 (234Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave E5 (670Hz) with a wooden ringer.
This interesting antique Lingam singing bowl is in excellent structural condition, clean and stain-free, with a golden bronze colour.
A ringer is included in the price.
