This tiny Antique Singing Bowl has a diameter of just 4 ¾ inches and weighs 7 ounces. It is one of the smallest in my collection.
It has an extremely fine wall that flairs slightly at the rim, a sheered lip, and a rounded bottom. Long use and cleaning has resulted in refined and sensually smooth walls, and any decorative features it might once have possessed have been worn away. Nonetheless, this bowl has a very pretty shape and lots of charm.
The fundamental note is a high sixth octave A6 (1786Hz) when struck, and a middle octave E4 (333Hz) when played around the rim with a wooden ringer. It fits snugly in the palm of the hand or balances on the fingertips for playing. It’s a responsive bowl and, unlike many tiny bowls, it doesn’t spin while playing.
It is in good structural condition, clean and free of stains and blemishes, with a bright golden bronze colour.
Small singing bowls of all types are very collectable and highly sought-after.
