Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Note E4 & B5 (Solar Plexus & Crown Chakras)

Weight 797 grams (1 lb 12 oz).  19 x 8 cm (7 ½ x 3 ¼ inches)

This is a rare and very nice quality 18th century Lingam Singing Bowl with a perfect pitch middle octave E4 (330Hz) fundamental when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer.   A wooden ringer produces a fifth octave B5 (966Hz) harmonic that is accompanied by the fundamental E4 in the background.

This antique Lingam has a very uncommon shape with its shallow profile and fairly straight wall.  It has a flat bottom and a generous triangulated and grooved lip.  The rim is surrounded by two boldly incised decorative lines, with another matching pair about an inch below, and a single line lower still.   This artwork effectively divides the wall, worn sensually smoother over time, into 3 equal parts and is a particularly attractive feature.  The small but pretty lingam at its centre is surrounded by a single decorative circle, and there is a neat navel or yoni underneath.

It is in excellent structural condition, free of stains and blemishes, and has the look and feel of great antiquity with its lovely, aged patina.

This ancient Lingam Singing Bowl has an interesting shape, great aesthetic appeal, and a perfect pitch voice!

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a ringer are included in the price.
