Antique Extra-Thick High-Walled Lingam Singing Bowl – Fabulous Voice!
£700.00
Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes Eb4 & A5 (Solar Plexus & Third Eye Chakras)
Weight: 850 grams (1 lb 14 oz). Size: 17 x 9 cm (6 ½ x 3 ½ inches)
This medium-size antique Lingam Singing Bowl is very responsive and has a fabulous voice…a 4th octave Eb4 (314Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer, and a fifth octave A5 (896Hz) when played with a wooden ringer.
Its extra-thick high-sided wall makes it relatively heavy for its size. It has a sheered (once grooved) lip and a rounded bottom. The lingam at its centre is surrounded and defined by two sets of circles, with a very nice matching navel or yoni underneath. A band of tiny cuts decorate the outer rim.
It’s hard to believe that this bowl was originally forged with hammers as its walls have been worn smooth from long use.
This 19th century Lingam Bowl has an exceptional voice and is in excellent structural condition with an attractive aged patina.
A teak and suede ringer is included free of charge.
