Exquisite Rare 18th Century Antique Lingam Singing Bowl – C4 & Perfect Pitch F#5
SOLD
Antique Singing Bowl. Notes: C4 & F# 5 (Root & Heart Chakras)
Weight: 623 grams (1 lb 6 oz). Size: 17 x 8 cm (6 ¾ x 3 ¼ inches)
This is a lovely example of a superior quality 18th Century Lingam Singing Bowl. It has a lower than normal gracefully curved wall, and a slightly flanged lip with a single decorative line encircling the outer rim. At its centre there is a lingam surrounded and defined by two sets of circles, and a neat matching navel or yoni underneath.
The fundamental note is a middle octave C4 (263Hz) that is sometimes accompanied by a third octave B3 harmonic (253Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a perfect pitch fifth octave F#5 (740Hz) with a wooden ringer.
Everything about this Lingam bowl is exquisite…its graceful form, its two lovely voices and ease of play, its wonderful aged patina, and especially the look and feel of great antiquity. It is in excellent structural condition, clean, and with barely a blemish.
An antique gem of a bowl!
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
