Rare and Interesting Antique Singing & Offering/Shaman Bowl – E4/F4 with Suns

This rare and interesting Antique Singing Bowl has a slightly variable fundamental that hovers between E4 and F4 (338Hz – 340Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim.  It’s low profile shape and decorative sun motifs on the lip and encircling the rim suggest that it probably doubled as a Ceremonial Offering Bowl, or possibly a Shaman Bowl.

It is quite a thick bowl with a particularly unusual shape, and would have been a challenge to forge.  It is in excellent structural condition and basically clean with some light patches of copper oxidization or staining inside.  Underneath there is some patterning caused by the sacking that this bowl was wrapped in for many years.  It could probably be removed if desired, but I rather like antique bowls to reflect their life story and history.

A Tibetan silk brocade cushion, a small padded striker, and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are all included in the price.
