Antique Lingam Singing Bowl (Crown, Root & Throat Chakras)
Weight 721 grams (1 lb 9 ½ oz).   Size 20 x 7.5 cm (7 ¾ x 3 inches)

This is a rare antique Button Lingam Singing Bowl dating from around 1800.  The fundamental note is midway between B3 and C4 so the struck note is a third octave B3 (254Hz) while the rim note is a middle C4 (257Hz) when played with a suede ringer.  The rim note changes to a fifth octave G5 (785Hz) with a wooden ringer.

This interesting bowl has a rare shallow form with a button lingam surrounded by circles at its centre and a tiny navel or yoni underneath.  It has a triangulated lip with decorative circles around the outer rim.

It is structurally sound with patches of red and green copper oxidization and is supplied uncleaned as found.  It has an attractive aged patina and the look and feel of antiquity.

A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion, and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
