Rare Antique Remuna-Lingam Singing Bowl – D4 & G#5
SOLD
Antique Remuna-Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes D4 & G#5 (Sacral & Throat Chakras)
Weight 669 grams (1 lb 8 oz). Size 16 x 8.5 cm (6 ½ x 3 ¼ inches)
This is a rare 19th Century Remuna-Lingam Singing Bowl with two great voices…a middle octave D4 (299Hz) fundamental when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note readily develops into a powerful and penetrating fifth octave G#5 (842Hz), the same note that is produced using a wooden ringer. This is a responsive bowl and easy to play.
Lingam bowls have a very distinctive sound, and Remuna bowls are renowned for their beautiful voices and ease of play. This lovely bowl combines the best of both worlds.
This bowl has the body and sonic characteristics of a Remuna bowl with its fine slightly globular wall, grooved lip, and decorative bands around the belly…but with the addition of a lingam surrounded by two sets of circles at its centre, and a matching navel or yoni underneath.
This attractive superior quality bowl is structurally sound, clean and stain-free.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a ringer are included in the price.
