Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Note: D4 (Sacral Chakra)

Weight: 748 grams (1lb 10oz).  Size: 17 x 9 cm (6 ¾ x 3 ½ inches)

This is a very rare 18th Century globular-shaped Lingam Singing Bowl.  It has a finely forged walls and a flanged lip, with multiple decorative bands encircling the outer rim and belly.   The large pointed lingam at its centre surrounded and defined by two sets of decorative circles, and there is a matching  (partially filled) yoni or navel underneath.

On the outer wall below the rim there is a dot-punched inscription; a fair indication of the high esteem in which it was held by a former keeper.

The fundamental note is a middle octave D4 (288Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede or wooden ringer.  This bowl is also self-amplifying.

It is structurally sound and is supplied uncleaned ‘as found’ with its life-story intact…including evidence of its use as a bird perch, with their droppings  running down and staining the interior wall!  It just adds interest and character!

A really unusual and interesting lingam singing bowl circa 1800.

A double-ended teak and suede ringer is included in the price.
