Antique Shaman Divination Bowl. Note: E4 (Solar Plexus Chakras)
Weight 625 grams (1 lb 06 oz). Size 18.5 x 5 cm (7 ¼ x 2 inches)
This is a rare antique bronze Shaman Bowl employed in divination rituals; a sacred object that will have accompanied the shaman throughout their lifetime. This particular divination bowl benefits from a dot-punched inscription, now faint, on the outer rim, and is a fair indication of the high esteem in which this bowl was held. Primarily used for divination the struck and played note is a middle E (335Hz).
This shallow flat-bottomed bowl has a sheered lip the edge of which has been decorated with a chain of tiny suns (dots within circles) sometimes found on 18thand 19thcentury Thadobati and Manipuri singing bowls. There are also circles at its centre.
It is in good structural condition, and has the look and feel of antiquity and purpose.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl mat and a ringer are included in the price.
