Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: C#4 & G5 (Root & Throat Chakras)
Weight 708 grams (1 lb 9 oz). Size 16.5. x 7.5 cm (6 ½ x 3 inches)
This is a rare and exceptionally fine quality medium-size antique Lingam Singing Bowl. It is quite heavy for its size, with beautifully crafted curved even walls, a superb grooved lip, and rounded bottom. There is a rounded lingam surrounded and defined by circles at its centre, with a matching navel or yoni underneath. Decorative dots and lines around the rim have all but disappeared with the passage of time, but everything about this bowl spells quality!
The fundamental note is a middle octave C#4 (274Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a fifth octave G5 (795Hz) with a wooden ringer.
It is in excellent structural condition, clean and free of stains inside, but with a rich and varied coppery patina externally, and a patch of stain underneath. However, make no mistake, this perfectly proportioned superior quality bowl is aesthetically really beautiful, with the look and feel of great antiquity.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double-ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
