Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Notes: F#4 & C6 (Heart & Root Chakras)
Weight 552 grams (1 lb 4 oz). Size 14 x 7 cm (5 ½ x 2 ¾ inches)
This is a fabulous medium-sized superior quality antique Lingam Singing Bowl with a middle octave F#4 (362Hz) fundamental when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede ringer. The rim note changes to a high sixth octave C6 (1019Hz) harmonic with a wooden ringer.
This rare 19th Century bowl takes the Thadobati form and is very nicely proportioned. It has a flat bottom, a deep and fairly straight wall, and a grooved lip. The Lingam at its centre is surrounded and defined by two sets of circles, and there is a matching navel or yoni underneath. Two decorative bands of tiny dots encircle the outer rim.
It is in excellent structural condition, clean and stain-free.
A Tibetan silk brocade bowl cushion and a double ended teak and suede ringer are included in the price.
