Antique Lingam Singing Bowl. Note: D4 (Sacral Chakra)
Weight 907 grams (2 lb 0 oz). Size 19 x 9 cm (7 ½ x 3 ½ inches)
This rare antique pot-shaped Lingam Singing Bowl is self-amplifying, responsive, and easy to play.
The fundamental note is a nice middle D4 (287Hz) when struck with a padded mallet or played around the rim with a suede or wooden ringer. It has an exceptionally long sustain when struck.
This globular singing bowl has an unusual flanged lip and decorative bands below the rim and around its belly. The lingam at its centre is surrounded and defined by circles, and it has a navel or yoni underneath.
This unusual 19th century lingam singing bowl is in good structural condition and free of stains and blemishes, but with some oxidization underneath.
A Tibetan silk brocaded bowl cushion and a ringer are included in the price.
